Anyway, Monday also happened to be the day of the big game... The Fiesta Bowl: BSU vs. TCU (whose colors happen to be purple and white). Our family was very excited for this night; pizza, Chili's chips and salsa, football, staying up late to watch football! Very exciting in deed!
While watching the game, Gracie and the other kids were playing with her PURPLE balloon. The score was at this time tied (10-10) in the 4th quarter. We all were nervous and really anxious for BSU to score again, but it just was not happening. A few of us were commenting on the color of Gracie's balloon and on how it was not good to have a purple balloon in our house during this most important game. Then, Sean suggested to Gracie that we pop it! Of course we all agreed and kept trying to convince Gracie that she should pop her balloon and that it would help the Broncos win the game. She was so torn. This is our little girl who was totally booing the Horn Frogs and sending them bad vibes when they ran onto the field. But this was also our little girl who had been given the purple balloon from a friend and could think of nothing more precious on this earth than her perfect, purple balloon! WHAT TO DO????
Well, we ended up doing what we usually do when we want our children to do something: we bribed her! Sean promised her that if she would pop her purple balloon that the next day he would bring her 10 blue balloons filled with helium! After much thought, and some tears, she let Sean pop her balloon.

And I am not lying, within just a couple of minutes, the Broncos went on to score the touchdown that won the game!! We all went wild over Gracie and told her that it was all because of her that BSU won!
And so, when Sean walked in from work this evening, he was holding 10 blue, helium filled balloons (and 5 orange ones for each of the other kids).
So if you are a BSU fan, you might want to take just a moment and thank Gracie for sacrificing her purple balloon so that the Broncos could win the Fiesta Bowl!
Thank you, Gracie!!!!
