Now, before you go on and view the following pictures, there is something that you must understand: I have not gone crazy! I can understand how someone might think that when they see I have taken pictures of my VERY MESSY house and published them on the Internet for all to see!! But there is a perfectly good explanation why I have done this. Alexandra Stoddard, a well known decorator and author of Living a Beautiful Life, said,
"It is, in fact, in the untidiness and the clutter of our cozy messes that we make our presence felt-and that, after all, is what homes are all about."
So, today I am celebrating our "cozy messes" because it means that the presence of my husband and children are here!
An uneaten bowl of cereal on the table, and shoes and socks by the sliding glass door: Ruby has been in, and has left, the kitchen!

Hairspray, blow dryers, and brushes on the bathroom counter: We have been blessed with 4 lovely daughters!
Piano and clarinet music all over the living room: Emma & Jack have actually been practicing!

Diapers all over the floor: We have been blessed with twins Calvin & Chloe!

Toys, barbies, polly pockets, my little ponies, and little pet shops in the bathtub: Our 6 children have all had baths!

Family room covered in toys: The kiddos have been playing together!

Dishes in the sink and baby bottles on the counter: We have all been able to eat together as a family at the kitchen table!
I took many other pictures of our "cozy messes", but I decided that I didn't want to be too revealing! Hopefully, tonight, when I am completely freaking out that the house is a mess and I am too tired to do anything about it, I will look at this post and feel gratitude for having everyone's "presence felt"! ... And realize that I'm gonna miss this!

Holly, thanks for being so honest about your house. I have been walking around feeling quilty that I can't do it all right now. People coming over to see Miss Kayla and my house isn't up for visitors. However, I have let them in. If I can get one thing done today then I feel like I am one step ahead and I don't have "6 little harts" I have 2. :) thanks for your post and your honesty. Love the blog!
ok I love that quote -- it makes me feel so much better about my always messy house. I clean the kitchen, and I swear in 10 minutes it looks like I haven't touched it in days!
